Color Tour-the Best of Northern Michigan!

Join us in your choice of two trips specifically designed for your group to enjoy, the best that Northern Michigan has to offer this Fall!

Dine, Wine & Shine-destination Mission Point!

MPviewWe will take the scenic drive up to Traverse City.

First, we start with coffee and donuts from Vanbronklin’s in Big Rapids; they are  (almost) world famous for their bear claws and old fashioned donuts. It’s one of those iconic donut shops that make the register of everyone’s “best donut shop,” but can’t hold a bus load, so we will pick up a few dozen and head over to The River Walk park to savor the goodness—what’s better than donuts & coffee in the morning!

Continue to enjoy the Fall colors from the comfort of your motor coach seat as we head to Traverse City. The next stop is for lunch at Sleder’s Family Tavern  downtown, near the waterfront. This is the oldest restaurant in Michigan, opened in 1882. It has a great old fashioned atmosphere and an equally great selection of lunch fare–check out the menu at their website: sleders.com Sleders1

Fully satisfied (maybe too much so), we’ll venture up the Old Mission peninsula for more color—and some of that includes the color purple. Our first stop will be the Chateau Chantal where we will have a tasting opportunity, a tour of their operation and the chance to purchase, right at the source, your favorite wine.

We will continue to our destination of the Mission Point Lighthouse; the Old Mission Peninsula drive has been chosen as one of the ten best coastal drives in the US! While here, Lighthouse Park guests are invited to enjoy self-guided historical tours through the lighthouse (for a small fee climb all the way up to the tower!), to visit our quaint gift shop, to peek into the historic Hessler Log Cabin, to explore the miles of unspoiled trails that run MPLighthousethrough and around the park (many of which are just as historic as the lighthouse itself),  to photograph, to watch for birds and other wildlife, to stroll the beach, to gaze out at the sunset, and to simply relax.

Winding our way back down the peninsula we will stop at Mari Vineyards the home of one of Michigan’s truly unique wines and an equally unique story to go with it! With an atmosphere that is truly elegant and a tasting experience to match, we will depart knowing that the day was one to savor and remember…MPwineMari

But we’re not quite finished yet. With a day like this behind us we’ll need a few minutes to relax and commune with friends and there is no better way to do that than with a meal and Frozen Custard at Culver’s–our dinner stop in Cadillac on the journey home.

AND here’s the best part–all this for just $60 per person! (That’s based on at least 50 passengers). The price includes motor coach travel, coffee and donuts, and wine tasting and venue admission fees. Additional purchases such as lunch at Sleders and dinner at Culvers are “on your own” and not covered in the $60 cost.

Contact Us about scheduling this one day trip for your group to see beautiful Northern Michigan this fall! (We can do this with less participants–down to 35, but the transportation costs remain the same. These rates are: 35-39 $75pp, 40-45 $70pp, 46-50 $65pp).

An Autumn Island Experience–Mackinaw Island

We will enjoy a full day of touring by motorcoach, boat…and maybe a horse or even a bicycle, if you choose!

BRriverwalk1bear claw2

Next, enjoy Michigan color from the comfort of your motor coach seat as we travel to beautiful Mackinaw City to board Shepler’s Ferry to the Island. The 20 minute boat ride provides majestic panoramic views of the Mighty Mac, Lake Superior, and Mackinaw Island as well! sheplers Enjoying the Island should not be a problem, especially this time of year with the moderate temperatures, lower tourist traffic and great “end of season” sales you can find in the shops on Main Street! You will have your pick of carriage rides, lunch venues. MacIslnd1 historic stops and boutique shops to visit, and to eat fudge! MackIsland3 Additionally, you may wish to rent a bicycle for an hour or so and venture out a bit to see some of the pristine beauty from the bike trails (maybe stop and eat some fudge for energy). You will have four hours to take in the beauty, history and ambiance of this northern Michigan gem! Visit their website for more information and to plan your day (and where you will purchase your fudge)!

With a full day of Mackinaw enjoyment and memories to savor we will board the ferry back to Mackinaw City for the return home…but no trip up north would be complete without enjoying a meal and a frozen custard at Culver’s, our dinner stop in Cadillac.

The price includes motorcoach travel, donuts and coffee, and Shepler’s Ferry fee. Additional costs of lunch, shopping, Island venues, and Culvers are “on your own” purchases.
